The Policy & Research Group to Provide Rigorous Evaluation for Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program

October 2010 – The Policy & Research Group will be working as the external evaluator for the Louisiana Public Health Institute (LPHI). LPHI will implement two teen pregnancy prevention interventions (Being a Responsible Teen and Safer Sex) with Orleans parish youth. PRG will conduct a randomized control trial to measure the effectiveness of the interventions with participating youth.

The purpose of the program in part is to study evidenced based initiatives to improve the availability of effective interventions nationwide. The grant was awarded by the Department of Health and Human Services and it is funded by the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2010. The Office of Adolescent Health within the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health is administering the program.
